The Light is based off Tanya Chapter 47 which talks about the process of leaving Mitzrayim (Egypt). In this chapter Rabbi Shnuer Zalman speaks about our soul being composed of both the animal divine aspects. When we wake up in the morning we enter the physical realm in our animal aspect of the soul. We wake up in Egypt, in a place of yearning for purely physical pleasure. We are freed from our on Egypt when we engage in the mitzvot and participate in the healing of the world. As we unite our personal pleasure with the ability of giving to others our animal transforms into divinity. As we perform the mizvot our divine souls' radiate and elevate as we connect with the supernal light aka our creator.
